There is more to athleticism than just running fast and being able to jump higher than the competition.
Squatting a lot and benching a lot is cool but it won’t translate into your sport the same way being a natural athlete does
When you train, train to be an elite athlete and let the numbers speak for themselves .
here are a few unique ways you can vary your workouts as an athlete.
- Vary your workouts
Doing different types of workouts will not only help prevent injuries, it will help you build new muscles by challenging your muscles to adapt to your workout.
An athlete that can run fast and can show great hand eye coordination are usually better suited to succeed in their respective sports.
- Track & Measure Your Performance During Training.
The best way to know the effectiveness of your workout is to track your progress as you go along.
Whether it’s tracking your max lifts, your top speed, or your high jump, tracking your progress will help you have how effective your program really is and tells you where changes need to be made
- Make Proper Hydration a Priority.
As athletes exercise, the core body temperature rises. In response, the body sweats to dissipate excess heat so it doesn't overheat.
Water will regulate your body temperature and lubricates your joints. Dehydration can lead to muscle strains, tears, or tense muscles that can cramp.
- Dedicate Enough Time for Recovery.
Most people need about 7 to 9 hours of sleep a night. If you're an athlete in training, you may need more. Lebron James typically averages 12 hours of sleep a day. You don’t need that much but that should show you how important sleep is as an athlete
- Train Your Brain.
Being mentally strong is essential to any athletes. Especially at the pro level when the scrutiny is the highest.
Mastering your emotions and keeping yourself accountable are steps towards that way. Commit to mental strength training and you'll train your brain to think differently.
