How to stick the landing on your jumps

As an athlete, being able to do athletic movements without question are the most important things you have to do.

You’ve probably heard of the term land softly, but what exactly does it mean ?

The ideal jump allows an athlete to absorb the shock and transfer the force to your flyers, hamstrings and calves as opposed to your joints

Most athletes have quads that are dominant because of a lot of sitting down. That causes you to shift your weight around when you do squats or jumping movements

Bad landing technique will put your ACL in a compromising position every time you land with poor posture.

What is the proper landing technique?

  • make sure your knees track over your feet.

  • Always land on the balls of your feet

  • shift the weight back to your heels when u land

Here are a few exercises that you can use to practice your landing technique. The better you are at landing into a athletic position the quicker you will be as an athlete. How you land greatly impacts how much power you can produce on your rebound jump, too.

Depth drop

Lateral bound

Rotational vertical jump and stick

broad jumps

Jumping and sprinting goes hand in hand.

If you van jump high, chances are that you can run fast as well

Running laps and doing mindless conditioning drills aren’t making you “tougher” as an athlete. All that does is wear you down .

All that time spent running countless suicides can be used to improve your jumping and your explosiveness.
